The idea for EQ22 was born from an idle comment made in a thread at during the summer of 2005. It was developed for the KVR Developer Challenge 2006

EQ22 is a 5Band equaliser, with each band covering 2 octaves, with a tuning control to globally scale the centre freqencies of the bands.
It serves 3 functions:

  • To be a 5 Band passive EQ - EQ22 is equipped to perform standard attenuation in each band.
  • To restore dynamics in an audio stream. When a fader is raised above the halfway mark, the proprietary 'Transient Dispersion' algorithm takes over the processing of the band, and will enhance the dynamic range using various latency-free adaptive techniques.
  • To provide a basic 'Tube' section for those who don't own a 'Tube amp'.

It separates the left and right (and optionally central) elements of a stereo signal, splits them into three bands and allows each new channel of audio to be placed anywhere in the normal stereo domain, and attenuated, boosted or muted as desired.
